Evaluation Tool

Introduction

The evaluation tool is a Zope application designed for the evaluation of lectures. Questionnaires filled out by students will be immediately included in the different graphical reports.

The tool is optimized for the use at the ETH so that new evaluations can
be set up with only a few clicks, but with some changes the application can be used on every Zope system where a MySQL database is available.

Requirements

The evaluation tool requires Zope, a working MySQL connection (ZMySQLDA) and Silva for some authentication specific code. For the setup of lectures it is recommended to install the DBEditor product.

Basic Features

• Students see only the lectures they have attended.
• Students see which lectures they have already evaluated and which they still have to evaluate.
• Reports show the anonymous results graphically.
• Different lectures can be graphically compared.
• Reports can be exported as Excel or PDF files.
  
• Questionnaires can be fully customized using the administration section.
• Lectures can be imported from VVZ (ETH specific).
  
• Access to the questionnaires and reports can be controlled with different Silva roles.

Download and Installation

• The evaluation tool v1.3 can be downloaded here. (history)
• Unpack in Products folder of Zope instance.
• Add a Z MySQL Database connection in the same folder or above.
• Use the file tables.sql to setup your MySQL database with the necessary tables.
  
• Add and configure the evaluation tool in ZMI.
• Setup the evaluation using the admin section of the evaluation tool.

Upgrade

• Delete old evaluation tool from Products folder of Zope instance.
• Unpack new version in Products folder of Zope instance.
• Refresh the evaluation in the ZMI (go to "Control_Panel/Products/Evaluation", click on the "Refresh tab" and then on "Refresh this product").
