Publications

The publications tool allows to upload Endnote XML files (version 8 and 9 only) and to search, browse and download the publications over a web interface. For a demo of the search and export features please go to http://www.mat.ethz.ch/research/publications.

Installation

• Download (updated 22.02.2007) the publications tool as Zope zexp-export and place the file in the "import" directory of your Zope installation on the server (you should create the "import" directory in the root of your Zope installation if it does not yet exist). Then click on "Import/Export" in the ZMI and choose "publications.zexp" as file name.
  
  Attention (added 22.05.2007): This version contains a bug in combination with the ETH-Layout. To fix it make a small change in the "macro" page template in the silva sql source "searchResult"; change URL0 to URL1:

• Download (updated 06.02.2007) the external method endnoteImport.py necessary for parsing the endnote files, adjust the path to python (first line of the file) and place it in your site "Extensions" folder.
• Create the necessary MySQL tables. You can use this SQL dump (updated 06.02.2007) to create the tables. It is recommended that the default MySQL connection encoding is set to UTF-8.
• Add a MySQL database connection named "publications_v8_database_connection" in the folder publications. This connection must have read (SELECT) rights for the publication database.
• Add a MySQL database connection named "publications_admin_database_connection" in the folder publications/admin. This connection must have read and write (SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE) rights for the publication database.
• Edit the table group_admins to specify which users can upload publications for which groups.
• Upload your Endnote XML files using the web interface; only XML exported from EndNote 8 and 9 are supported.
• Tested with Silva 1.1.x and 1.5.x
